THE PROJECT TO BE DEVELOPED:

The Pediatric Hematologic Malignancies Research Program focuses on understanding the biology of pediatric leukemias and lymphomas and developing more effective, less toxic therapeutic strategies. The Pediatric Leukemia & Immunometabolism Laboratory studies how leukemia cells, the immune system, and tissue-specific metabolic environments interact to shape disease progression and treatment response.

We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician with a Master’s degree to join the Pediatric Leukemia & Immunometabolism Laboratory. The laboratory projects aim to define niche-specific T-cell dysfunction and metabolic alterations in pediatric leukemias and develop strategies to restore antileukemic T-cell function. The successful candidate will provide hands-on experimental support across projects, including in vivo models, primary sample processing, flow cytometry, and molecular biology. The position requires careful experimental work, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with scientists, clinicians, core facilities, and external collaborators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process murine tissues and primary pediatric samples.

• Perform flow-cytometry staining and acquisition, and assist with cell-sorting workflows for leukemic and immune-cell populations.

• Maintain mammalian cell cultures.

• Perform routine molecular biology procedures, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, genotyping, plasmid preparation, and support for sgRNA-library generation and validation.

• Maintain accurate experimental documentation and coordinate sample processing, storage, and shipment with internal platforms and collaborating laboratories.

• Support general laboratory organization, stock and reagent control, equipment maintenance, biosafety procedures, and implementation of standard operating procedures.

THE PROFILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Master’s degree in Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, or a related life-science field.

• Hands-on laboratory experience in cellular and molecular biology, including mammalian cell culture and sample processing.

• Accredited training to work with laboratory animals in rodents for the functions required to perform care, euthanasia, and experimental procedures, in accordance with applicable regulations.

• Ability to follow detailed protocols, maintain rigorous records, and handle valuable primary samples with a high level of responsibility.

• Good command of English for day-to-day scientific communication and protocol documentation.

• Proactive, well-organized, and collaborative working style, with good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
